FENC: Buckeyes Sweep OSU Duals Competition 14-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State fencing team wrapped up the 2012 OSU Duals with a combined 14-0 record after defeating all seven of its opponents Saturday at French Field House. This accomplishment extends the Buckeyes undefeated streak to nine-consecutive home Duals without losing a match.
The men's and women's foil groups posted a combined 119-7 record, paving the way to the Buckeyes' success. Sophomore Nina Stackhouse went undefeated on the day with 16 victories overall, while sophomore Bill Meyer notched 12 victories, coming out on top in each of his bouts. Freshmen Kyjah Coryat and Taylor McIntyre both entered their Buckeye careers undefeated after posting 16-0 and 18-0 records for the women's foil unit at the duals.
Sophomore Celina Merza, senior Max Stearns, and junior Rhys Douglas led the men's and women's sabre units with 21 victories each over the seven rounds. The men's sabre squad finished 42-0 on the day while the women's squad posted a 58-5 record.
Men's epee compiled a 57-6 record overall. Freshman Matt Bogard led the men's unit with 17 victories and junior Eric Philippou did not lose a bout all day, posting a total of eight victories. The women's epee unit rounded off the day with a 54-9 record, while junior Mallory Norman finished the competition with 19 victories. Senior Tasha Domashovetz won 16 bouts over the seven rounds while freshman Becca Rutan posted 14 victories on her debut performance.
Ohio State continues its 2012-13 season with a trip to South Bend, Ind., for the Notre Dame Individual, Oct. 27-28.
