COLUMBUS, Ohio – At Autumn Commencement today (Sunday), 33 current and former Ohio State student-athletes will earn their degrees. The ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. in the Jerome Schottenstein Center and will be streamed online HERE.
The graduates represent 20 sports and include NCAA and Big Ten champions, all-conference players and academic standouts.
Highlighting the graduates is Christina Manning from the women’s track and field team. A criminology major, she was the 2012 Suzy Favor Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year, a two-time NCAA champion, an 11-time All-American and 10-time Big Ten champion. The Big Ten indoor and outdoor athlete of the year, she won the NCAA 60 meter hurdles (indoor) and 100 meter hurdles (outdoor) as a senior and ended her career with four Ohio State individual and two relay records.
Men’s volleyball player Mik Berzins, a forestery fisheries and wildlife graduate, was a member of the Buckeyes’ 2011 NCAA Championship squad, the first national title in program history. He set the Ohio State career digs record in 2012 and finished with 902, ranking second at Ohio State in career digs average at 2.23. He was a 2012 Volleyball Magazine Third Team All-American and First Team All-MIVA honoree and a 2009 Second Team All-MIVA selection.
Women’s golfer Rachel Rohanna is graduating a semester early with her degree in agribusiness. A two-time first team All-Big Ten selection, she reached Stage II of LPGA Qualifying in October and competed as an amateur in the 2011 U.S. Women’s Open. Rohanna, who plans to pursue a career as a professional golfer, was a three-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete.
Former field hockey captain Jenn Sciulli, a speech and hearing science major, was a first team All-American and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2011 and was a part of the first NCAA semifinal team in program history during the 2010 season.
