Every Friday, OhioStateBuckeyes.com features one of the many Ohio State social media outlets to follow. It is a ridiculously busy weekend with many Homecoming festivities and Ohio State Centennial games. Among those, the Ohio State field hockey team is hosting a pair of tough games at Buckeye Varsity Field and is today’s FF: OhioState_FH
The No. 16 Buckeyes open with a Friday afternoon game against Big Ten rival No. 20 Michigan State. The game is set for 3 p.m. and is the squad’s Centennial Celebration game. This event commemorates the Department of Athletics 100th year as a department and a member of the Big Ten Conference.
Ohio State returns to the field Sunday, facing non-conference foe Ball State at 1 p.m. The matchup is the team’s Go Pink game to honor Breast Cancer Awareness. The team will wear pink socks, while free pink buffs will also be handed out before the game. Fans can also enter to play in an in-game contest to win two free tickets for the 2013 Buckeye Cruise for Cancer, Feb. 21-25.
The 2012 Ohio State squad is led by seniors Danica Deckard and Berta Queralt. Deckard leads the squad with 26 points and 11 goals, while Queralt has 21 points on nine goals and three assists. The team is under the direction of head coach Anne Wilkinson, who is in her 17th season at Ohio State.
