Buckeye Student-Athletes Set to Graduate Sunday
Aug. 6, 2016 COLUMBUS, Ohio - Sunday, 18 current and former Ohio State student-athletes will receive their degree at summer semester commencement at 2 p.m. in The Jerome Schottenstein Center. The ceremony can be watched online HERE.

Among the graduates are All-Americans and outstanding student-athletes, with Jesse King of the men’s lacrosse team and women’s soccer player Michela Paradiso highlighting the group.

King, a Victoria, British Columbia, native, earning his communication degree who played from 2012-15, ended his career fourth in Ohio State history with 208 points and 119 goals and fifth with 89 assists. He was a three-time USILA All-American (just the second in program history), earning third team honors in both 2014 and ‘15 and honorable mention accolades in 2013. As a senior in 2015 King had a team-best and career-high 47 goals, 35 assists and 77 points, the most for a Buckeye since 1979 and the fourth-most in program history, and was a First Team All-Big Ten selection. King won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2014 FIL World Championship. He was the No. 2 overall pick in the National Lacrosse League draft and was the NLL Rookie of the Year in 2016. A team captain for the Buckeyes in 2015 when the squad reached the NCAA Quarterfinals for just the third time in program history, he was the No. 6 overall pick in the Major League Lacrosse draft. Paradiso, a senior co-captain for the Ohio State women’s soccer team in 2015 and Big Ten Medal of Honor finalist, is earning her degree in neuroscience. She tied for the team lead with six goals while adding three assists on the year. She finished the season with 15 points, good for third on the team, and wrapped up her career with 18 assists to tie for fourth on the Ohio State career list. The Upper Arlington, Ohio, native who started all 23 matches in 2015 was at her best down the stretch run of the season, earning Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors Oct. 29 and ESPNW National Player of the Week laurels Nov. 3 after she scored both goals in the Buckeyes’ 2-0 win over Michigan State on Senior Night and followed that up with a goal in the Ohio State’s Big Ten quarterfinal win at Wisconsin. Paradiso was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten pick and a three-time OSU Scholar-Athlete in addition to garnering NSCAA Scholar All-East Region laurels in 2015.
