Members of The Ohio State University Department of Athletics collectively were saddened to learn today of the passing of longtime Columbus Dispatch publisher John F. Wolfe, a benevolent, loyal and true friend of the university and of its Buckeye sports teams.
Mr. Wolfe has been a longtime supporter of the Department of Athletics, its coaches, student-athletes and programs. His most recent contribution to the department came late last year when one foundation he chaired that honors his grandfather and father, the Robert F. Wolfe and Edgar T. Wolfe Foundation, pledged $5 million to support the athletics department and permanently endow the position of Director of Athletics. That position has been renamed: The Wolfe Foundation Director of Athletics.
The Department of Athletics sends its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Mr. John F. Wolfe, and it will always thank him for his support and generosity toward the Ohio State Buckeyes.
