COLUMBUS, Ohio -- At the 47th Annual Scholar-Athlete Dinner in the Ohio Union Monday, 511 Buckeyes will be honored as Ohio State Scholar-Athletes for the 2013-14 school year. In addition, the winners of the Big Ten Medal of Honor, as well as a number of other scholarship recipients, will be announced that night.
Aleksandra Dobranic (women’s basketball), Michael Newburger (men’s gymnastics), Chelsea Knapp (women’s hockey), Kasie Kelly (softball), Peter Kobelt (men's tennis) and Ian Paddock (wrestling) all will receive their fifth Ohio State Scholar-Athlete award.
The honored student-athletes hail from 32 states, five Canadian provinces and 23 other countries. Of the honorees, 238 call Ohio home. New York ranks second with 24, followed by California with 21.
