Buckeyes Sit Eighth in First Winter Directors' Cup Standings

COLUMBUS, OhioIn the first set of winter Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings, Ohio State sits eighth behind a second-place finish from the wrestling Buckeyes and a seventh-place standing from the rifle team. Stanford leads the standings followed by Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn State, USC, Colorado and North Carolina.

Led by national champion Kyle Snyder, the Ohio State wrestling team tallied a school-record six All-Americans to finish second at NCAA Championships last weekend in St. Louis. The Buckeye rifle team placed seventh at the NCAA Championships earlier this month, led by All-Americans Drew Cheezum and Rhiann Travis, to earn 55 points. In addition, swimmers Lindsey Clary (400 IM) and Liz Li (50 freestyle, 100 butterfly) earned All-America honors to pace the swimming and diving team to a 19th-place finish at NCAA Championships last weekend.

The Learfield Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Complete standings and the scoring structure can be found on NACDA’s website at www.directorscup.org.
