Bonus points generated by Kollin Moore and Nathan Tomasello distanced No. 2 Ohio State (13-1, 8-1 B1G) by three points, 18-15, in a road dual at No. 4 Michigan (10-3, 7-2 B1G) which saw the 10 bouts split 5-5. Additional Buckeye victors included Ke-Shawn Hayes, Myles Martin and Joey McKenna.
No. 2 Buckeyes Stay Perfect
The No. 2 Buckeyes men's tennis team posted yet another perfect week defeating No.6 Texas A&M 4-3 Friday and No. 11 Florida 5-2 Sunday. The Buckeyes have matched up with three-straight ranked opponents defeating all three on their way to a perfect 8-0 start to the season.
No. 5 Ohio State Grinds Out Perfect Week
The Buckeyes erased a two-sets-to-one deficit Thursday night to take its 2018 MIVA opener over Ball State in five sets.. Then, on Saturday against No. 14 Fort Wayne, the Buckeyes started slow in a 25-23 opening set before riding the wave of a 7-1 run to end the second set, 25-19, and rolling past the Mastodons in a 25-14 third frame.
No. 8 Men's Lacrosse Tames No. 20 Terriers
A fast start on offense keyed by face-off dominance and a stellar defensive effort in goal added up to a 15-9 victory for No. 8 Ohio State (2-0) over No. 20 Boston University (1-1) on Saturday in front of a sold-out crowd at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Nine different Buckeyes found the back of the net on the day, led by the combination of sophomore Tre Leclaire and freshman Jackson Reid who combined for seven goals on the day. Goalie Matthew Schmidt also made a career-high 15 saves to seal the deal.
No. 8 Buckeyes Ascend to Top of Big Ten
No. 14 Ohio State, behind 14 points and eight boards from Keita Bates-Diop and 18 points and seven rebounds from Kaleb Wesson, topped Iowa 82-64 Saturday night at Value City Arena. The Buckeyes, now alone atop the Big Ten, sit at 22-5 overall and 13-1 in conference play.
Softball DominateFirst Pitch Classic
Lilli Piper hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth inning as Ohio State won a back-and-forth battle with Boston University on Sunday, 3-2, to conclude the FAU "First Pitch" Classic. The Buckeyes are a perfect 5-0 after opening weekend. The Buckeyes also defeated Duke (5-2), FIU (10-1), and NIU twice (9-1), (10-2). Next up for the Buckeyes is the Big Ten/ACC Challenge in Raleigh, N.C. where they square off with Louisville and North Carolina State.
Buckeyes Squeek Past Penn State for Third Straight Victory
Once again, the atmosphere in St. John Arena helped propel the Buckeyes to victory as they bested Penn State, 196.200-196.025, on Friday night for their third straight win. For the third consecutive meet, OSU clinched event titles on vault, uneven bars and floor exercise. The team's 196.200 is the second-highest total of the season. The Scarlet & Gray also had seven finishers on the podium.
Buckeyes Etch Their Names in History at Music City Challenge
Zack Bazile registered the third-best long jump of 2018 in the world on Friday night at the Music City Challenge with a leap of 8.13-meters (26-8.25) while five athletes, Karrington Winters, Kendall Sheffield, Aziza Ayoub, Christine Frederick and DaJuan Seward hailed in to break school records during their trip down south.
Buckeyes End Home Season on High Note
The Ohio State swimmers closed out the regular season on Sunday at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion with five gold medals in individual events to finish off the Ohio State Winter Invitational. The Buckeyes amassed 65 personal best performances over the two-day Winter Invite at McCorkle. In addition to those 65 lifetime bests, 30 NCAA B cuts were swum and 22 performances that would have scored at the 2017 Big Ten Championships were registered.
