Disability Insurance

The Ohio State University Department of Athletics ("Ohio State") fosters a culture that provides student-athletes the opportunity to achieve excellence in life through success in academics and competition. This culture guides the development and success of our athletics programs and student-athletes. In order to affirm our commitment to each student-athlete's mental and physical development, Ohio State supports the implementation of policies designed to enhance student-athletes' academic and athletics experience.

The purpose of The Ohio State University Policy for Disability insurance is twofold. First, this policy provides disability insurance brokers and providers with specific guidelines for interacting with Ohio State student-athletes in accordance with relevant NCAA rules and regulations. Second, this policy will assist Ohio State student-athletes in making well-informed decisions regarding the opportunity to protect against future loss of earnings as a professional athlete due to a disabling injury or sickness that may occur during their collegiate career, while simultaneously protecting their academic goals and intercollegiate athletics eligibility.
