BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The No. 25-ranked and top-seeded Ohio State men's soccer team advanced to the Big Ten Tournament championship game with a 4-2 win over host Indiana Friday afternoon on Yeagley Field at Armstrong Stadium. Four different Ohio State players scored in the conference semifinal, including senior Joe Moore with his first career tally, as the Buckeyes became just the third team to beat Indiana twice in one season.

The win is the second over the Hoosiers (10-9-1) for the Buckeyes (11-4-4) in the past two weeks after waiting nearly seven years since the last. They join Penn State and Michigan State as the only teams to knock off the Hoosiers during both the regular season and postseason. Neither of the other teams, however, earned both wins on Indiana's famed home field as the Buckeyes accomplished this season.

Andrew Magill, Sam Scales and Konrad Warzycha joined Moore as goal scorers Friday, earning each of their second scores of the season, and guiding Ohio State in becoming the second team to put up four against the Hoosiers this year.

The Buckeyes' three first-half goals came in response to an Andy Adlard tally in the fifth minute that gave the Hoosiers the early lead. In an effort to reverse the 0-4-1 trend this season when its opponents scored first, Ohio State countered immediately and found the back of the net for the first time in the 14th minute.

Scales, the team leader in assists, played the ball to Chris Hegngi from the right sideline and Hegngi crossed the ball inside for Magill who made a sliding kick and sent the ball into the right side for the equalizer. At the 30:48 mark, Ohio State grabbed the lead when Scales took a turn at finishing passes from Magill and Warzycha to give the Buckeyes a lead they would not relinquish.

"In each half we gave up an early goal, which psychologically usually damages a team pretty well," Bluem said. "But in both cases we were able to equalize - in the first half, it was within 15 minutes and in the second half, it was almost immediately. Whenever they got a little bit of momentum, we crushed it."

Less than eight minutes later, in the 39th minute, Warzycha sent a laser from 25 yards out for the unassisted goal after picking up the loose ball in the midfield. The Buckeyes then headed into halftime with the two goal lead and the momentum in their favor.

A brief lapse in the opening minutes of the second period allowed Indiana to pull back within one when Will Bruin notched his eighth goal of the season early in the 49th minute of play.

The close quarters merely spurred another Buckeye revival, however, and they quickly came back with a fourth goal for some breathing room. In the 50th minute, Moore scored his first career goal, restoring the OSU lead to two after collecting a loose ball off a corner kick and sending it home.

"It couldn't have been a better time [to score my first goal]," Moore said. "To score one with 30-40 minutes left puts us up by two and that takes a little pressure off. So now we can relax and sit back and play a little more organized soccer. [To play in the Big Ten Tournament championship] is something special. It is another one of those things that we set in the beginning of the year as a goal for this team to accomplish. We got the first one with the Big Ten regular-season Championship and now we got the next one."

Moore and the Buckeyes will aim for that second goal at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Big Ten Tournament final against the winner of Penn State vs. Michigan State. The Nittany Lions lead the Spartans 2-0 at halftime. The Buckeyes have played in the tournament championship game four times and won twice, in 2000 against Penn State and in 2007 vs. Indiana.
