No. 1 in InterMat/NWCA/NWMA Division I Individual Preseason Rankings ... began national title run with 19-1 record ... sat out early portion of the season because of injury ... lone undefeated Buckeye during regular season with 16-0 overall and dual record, including wins over five Top 20 wrestlers ... for second consecutive season, finished Big Ten regular season undefeated at 8-0 ... made season debut at Edinboro (Nov. 14) and handed 10th-ranked Chris Honeycutt an 8-1 loss ... earned Big Ten Wrestler of the Week Jan. 6 following his 6-1 victory over Kent State's Dustin Kilgore (Jan. 4) ... went 5-0 at NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa (Jan. 10-11), which included wins over Top 20 opponents, No. 14 Alex Dolly (Northern Iowa), No. 17 Justin Kerber (Cornell) and No. 4 Kirk Smith (Boise State) ... defeated two other Top 20 wrestlers in No. 13 Anthony Biondo of Michigan (Feb. 13), 10-2, and No. 12 Jordan Blanton of Illinois (Feb. 15), 10-2.

2007-08 (Sophomore Season) - In second-career appearance in NCAA championships (March 20-22), won 184-pound title in dramatic fashion; faced No. 1-seed Jake Varner of Iowa State in finals and won on six seconds of riding time after tiebreakers were exhausted ... 2008 Big Ten Champion (March 8-9) ... All-Big Ten selection ... won four-consecutive matches in conference championships for title as No. 1-seed ... ended season on a 26-match win streak and tallied 34-1 overall mark ... finished season fifth in Ohio State records book in season win percentage (.971) ... one of two Buckeyes to go 8-0 during Big Ten regular-season schedule ... peaked as high as No. 2 in USA Today/NWCA/InterMat polls ... runner-up at Las Vegas Invitational (Nov. 30-1) ... one of two Buckeyes to compile 5-0 ledger at 2008 NWCA Cliff Keen National Duals (Jan. 12-13) ... at National Duals, won via pair of falls, technical fall, major decision and decision ... garnered wins against ranked opponents Christian Sinnott (No. 3) of Central Michigan, 5-2, and Phil Bomberger (No. 14) of Penn State, 16-0, to help Buckeyes finish fifth as a team ... 2006-07 (Freshman Season) - Earned All-America laurels in first complete season of collegiate wrestling with sixth-place finish at NCAA championships (March 16-18) ... finished season with 26-5 overall record ... concluded regular season with an impressive 7-1 Big Ten ledger, which was part of 14-1 overall dual mark ... at national championships, defeated Top 20 wrestlers in No. 17 Trevor Brandvold (Wisconsin), No. 9 Christian Sinnott (Central Michigan) and No. 10 Louis Caputo (Harvard) ... entered postseason with team-best .950 winning percentage (19-1) ... saw limited action at beginning of season because of injury, but won 16-consecutive matches to begin collegiate career at Ohio State before losing first match of the season to No. 1-ranked Jake Herbert of Northwestern (Feb. 4) ... included in 16-match winning streak was individual title at Las Vegas Invitational (Dec. 1-2) ... during Las Vegas Invite, won via two major decisions and a fall before downing fourth-ranked Raymond Jordan of Missouri, 3-1, in semifinals and No. 3 Tyrel Todd of Michigan, 12-6, in finals en route to title ... for efforts in Vegas, was awarded Big Ten Conference Wrestler of the Week (Dec. 4) ... in all, faced eight ranked wrestlers during regular season and compiled 7-1 mark ... 2007 Academic All-Big Ten and NWCA All-Academic Team award winner ... The Ohio State University Department of Athletics sponsors 36 fully funded varsity teams – 17 for women, 16 for men and three co-educational. The department is committed to providing its more than 1,000 student-athletes with the finest in academic and athletics support in order to ensure a quality and life-enhancing experience. The Department of Athletics is completely self-supporting and receives no university monies, tax dollars or student fees. In Fiscal Year 2009-10, the Department of Athletics will transfer back to the University more than $29 million in assessments, including $14.5 million in grant-in-aid costs.
