Patrick Woods begins his first season as a volunteer coach for the Ohio State men's track and field team after competing for four years with the Buckeyes (2005-2009). He will work primarily with student-athletes in multi-events.

Career Highlights

2009 Outdoor (Senior) Big Ten champion in the decathlon, finishing with a PR score of 7405, the second-best in Ohio State history ... 15th at the NCAA championships with 7316 points ... sixth-place at the 2009 USA Indoor Combined Event Championships ... set personal bests in the 100m, 200m and 400m dashes; 1500m run; pole vault; long jump; shot put; discus and javelin during the season.

2009 Indoor (Senior) Did not compete

2008 Outdoor (Junior) Second on the team in the high jump with a season-best leap of 6 feet, 9 1/2 inches ... posted his season-best jump at the Big Ten championships.   

2008 Indoor (Junior) Led the team in the heptathlon with a top score of 5123 points at the Big Ten championships; finished eighth.

2007 Outdoor (Redshirt) Did not compete

2007 Indoor (Junior) Second on the team in the heptathlon with a season-best 5005 points at the Big Ten championships, finishing eighth.

2006 Outdoor (Sophomore) Second on the team in the decathlon with his effort of 5808 points at the All-Ohio outdoor championships ... third on the team in the javelin with his throw at the All-Ohio of 125-0 1/4.

2006 Indoor (Sophomore) Second on the team in the long jump with his leap of 20-1 at the Scarlet and Gray Invitational ... second best vertical leap in the high jump at the Ohio State Invitational of 6-7 1/4.

2005 Outdoor (Freshman) Added one team point for the Buckeyes at the Big Ten championships with season-best high jump of 6-6 3/4 ... had a pair of second place finishes at the Cardinal Invite and Jesse Owens Track Classic.

2005 Indoor (Freshman) Placed second at Indiana/Purdue Tri-Meet, clearing high jump bar at 6-9 1/2 ... placed first at Kent State with leap of 6-8 ... had 6-8 1/2 for runner-up at Ohio State Invite ... scored one team point at Big Ten's with eighth-place mark of 6-7 1/2 ... competed in long jump.

Beaver Local High School Three-sport athlete in track, basketball and baseball ... 2004 Ohio State champion in high jump ... took second in state in 2003 ... topped out at 6-11 ... placed in Top 10 in state high jump as a sophomore ... earned 10 letters in high school ... ran a 14.9 in the 110m hurdles ... helped Beaver Local to the 2003 OHSAA Regional Championship and a sixth-place standing at the 2004 state meet.

Personal Born Oct. 4, 1985 ... Son of Cynthia Woods and the late Bob Woods ... has one sister, Sarah, and a brother-in-law, Dallas ... graduated with a degree in human ecology in 2009, specializing in family financial planning.
