AN OVERVIEW
Jeremie Simmons, the 2008 Junior College Division II Player of the Year, transferred to Ohio State after spending two seasons at Mott Community College in Flint, Mich. Simmons led Mott to Division II National Junior College Athletics Association National Championships each of the last two seasons with a 35-3 record in 2007 and a 35-2 mark in 2008.

As a sophomore, Simmons was named a first-team NJCAA All-American, was a All-Michigan Community College Athletics Association selection and named the league’s player of the year. Simmons averaged a team-high 21.2 points per game with 268 of 555 (.483) made field goals, 122 of 289 (.422) 3-pointers and 125 of 139 (.899) free throws made for a total of 783 points. He finished ranked No. 11 nationally in scoring and ranked No. 2 on the team in assists (185) and steals (110).

As a freshman in 2006-07, Simmons was named MCCAA Freshman of the Year. He averaged 16.6 points a game in 34 appearances. He led the squad with 145 assists and rated third for the Bears with 73 steals.

Simmons played prep basketball for Von Steubon Metropolitan Science Center in Chicago. He is the son of Valarie Dunbar and has three siblings, Jakara, Jvarus and Amirra. Simmons enjoys playing video games and spending time with this family. After graduation he plans to coach basketball or become a math teacher.

• Ranked second for the Buckeyes in assists with 83 ... handed out a career-high 8 assists vs. the Hoosiers Jan. 13 and tied the stat at Indiana Jan. 31
• Made a 3-pointer in 27 of 33 games this season
• Tied his then career high in points (12) with four made FGs and two 3-pointers vs. Michigan Jan. 28
• One of five Buckeyes to knock down a 3-point basket vs. Jacksonville and 1 of 4 players to score in double figures, marking the first time since the 2008 NIT title game against Massachusetts April 3, 2008
• Added 10 pts., 4 assists, 3 rebs. and 1 blk for the Buckeyes vs. Jacksonville Dec. 17
• Netted both FT attempts for Ohio State’s final pts. in 67-62 win vs. No. 7 Notre Dame Dec. 6 in Indianapolis ... contributed a career-high 6 rebs.
• Recorded first block vs. Butler Dec. 13 ... knocked down 7 points and handed out 2 assists vs. the Bulldogs
• 4-of-4 from the charity line vs. Butler ... 34-of-45 from the free throw line for the season
• Posted 7 pts. in win over Miami ... averaged 6.8 ppg.
• Played 22 minutes and recorded 3 steals in win vs. Samford
• Added 6 points, 3 rebounds and a team-high 5 assists in 30 minutes of play vs. BGSU (11/24/08)
• Made his first career start at Ohio State Nov. 20 vs. Delaware State ... posted double-figures in his career opener... recorded 10 points vs. DSU (11/20/08) which included 3 3-pointers in 20 minutes of play
