AN OVERVIEW
Kyle Madsen started his career in Nashville, Tenn., with Vanderbilt but after spending a redshirt season with the Commodores, he decided to return to central Ohio to complete his collegiate career. He sat out the 2006-07 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules and after two years away from competition, returned to the court for his sophomore season in 2007-08.

He has been one of the hardest workers on the roster and is expected to make significant contributions this season for a deep and talented Buckeye squad. The son of Patty and Neil Madsen, he has two younger brothers, Scott and Tyler. Kyle played for Jamey Collins at Dublin Coffman. His cousin, Mike Madsen, played baseball at Ohio State (2002-05).

Kyle graduated from Ohio State with a B.S. in business marketing in the spring of 2009. He is currently in graduate school studying sports management.

• Named 2005 Ohio Capital Conference Player of the Year, averaging 16.7 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.1 blocks for Dublin Coffman
• Helped lead the Shamrocks to an 18-4 record and the Ohio Capital Conference championship and a district runner-up finish ... named first-team All-Central District, first team Columbus Dispatch - Agonis Club all-star and second team All-Ohio
• Played in the Ohio vs. Kentucky All-Star Classic... played with Team Reebok in April 2004, winning the International Junior Tournament in Lissone, Italy ... ranked as the No. 1 center in Ohio for the class of 2005
• Averaged 12 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.2 blocks while earning first team All-Ohio Capital Conference accolades as a junior.

AS A JUNIOR
• Added 1 block in 17 mins. of play for the Buckeyes at Purdue Feb. 28
• Played a career-high 18 minutes vs. Penn State Feb. 24 ... added 4 pts., 4 rebs. and 1 blk. in the win
• Tied his career high in points with 6 after posting a career-best 3 made FGs in 14 minutes of play at Northwestern Feb. 18
• Posted a career-high 2 steals vs. Indiana Jan. 13
• Appeared in his 41st game as a Buckeye in the Big Ten tournament vs. Purdue March 15
• One of five Ohio State players to record a career high in assists against Houston Baptist Jan. 9 with 2
• Made first career start vs. Asheville (12/22/08), played 14 minutes and recorded 4 points and 4 rebounds
• Averaged 7.7 mpg. in 29 games
• Recorded a then career-high 6 rebounds in win over Samford (11/29/08) ... played 12 minutes, recorded a block and an assist
• Logged 12 minutes of play, went 3-of-4 in free-throw shooting and grabbed a career-high 4 rebounds vs Delaware State (11/20/08)
• Posted a career-best 3 offensive rebounds against DSU Nov. 20

AS A SOPHOMORE
• Played in 12 games, averaged 1.5 ppg. and 1.2. rpg in 4.2 mpg.
• Scored 2 pts. with 1 rebound in 3 minutes vs. Cal in NIT second round (3/24/08)
• Had 2 points and an offensive rebound in 2 minutes played vs. UNC Asheville in the NIT first round
• Played a career-high 13 mins. vs. Iowa (1/9/08) ... recorded a career-best 2 def. rebs. against the Hawkeyes
• Recorded career bests in rebs (3), assists (1), blocks (1) and FG (2) vs. VMI (11/25/07) ... tied rebound and assist effort against Presbyterian College (12/15/08)
• Saw first game action in more than 2 years in season opener vs. UW Green Bay (11/12/07) ... had not played competitively since senior year in high school at Dublin Coffman ... last high school game was in state tournament at Value City Arena
• Scored a career-high 6 pts. in Preseason NIT title game vs. Texas A&M (11/23/07)
• Sat out the 2006-07 season with the Buckeyes

AT VANDERBILT
Madsen transferred to Ohio State in June 2006 after redshirting his freshman year (2005-06) at Vanderbilt. He sat out the 2006-07 season with the Buckeyes, but became eligible to play in 2007-08.
