Looking at 2008: Tyler has the talent to contribute to the Buckeyes’ success as a true freshman ... he started at shortstop in all five of the 2007 Scarlet and Gray World Series games and he hit .357 and did not commit an error in 21 fielding opportunities ... “Tyler Engle is a tremendous athlete,” coach Bob Todd said. “He has been a three-sport letterman and is from an area with incredible baseball talent. We have had great success recruiting baseball players from that area and they have had great success at Ohio State. I think Tyler could have that kind of potential.”

Fort Frye High School: A four-year starter and four year letterman for coach Sonny Biducell ... was named first-team all-Ohio as a senior by the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association ... also named Division IV Player of the Year by the OHSBCA ... selected as a four-time first-team all-Pioneer Valley Conference choice ... played on three Fort Frye teams that won PVC championships ... team was 74-25 in his four years ... hit .515 with four home runs and 34 RBI as a senior and finished career with a .502 average, twelve home runs and 117 RBI ... named All-District each of his four years ... also earned four letters in basketball and three letters in football ... earned first-team all-state honors for basketball during senior season... finished as all-time state leader in three-pointers (329) ... played past four summers for Beverly/Lowell Legion of District 11 ... summer team won state championship in 2006.

Personal: Son of Matthew and Brenda Engle ... has two brothers, Trey and Tate ... likes to fish, hang out with friends and play cornhole.
