2009 Preview: “Boomer” - his nickname since he’s from Oklahoma - is in a group of pitchers who will be vying for one of the starting pitching positions ... he spent his true freshman year  with the Buckeyes coming out of the bullpen, but he had an excellent summer pitching as a starter for Luray (Va.) of the Valley Baseball League - 5-1 with a 1.13 earned run average to earn second-team all-league honors - and he is expected to see plenty of playing time in 2009.

2008 (Freshman): Ranked third on the staff in appearances with 15 and his 10 walks allowed in 29.1 innings pitched was the lowest among all Buckeyes ... picked up a win in his first collegiate game, pitching 4.0 innings in relief in a 6-5 win over Seton Hall ... gave up just three  hits, no earned runs, walked none and struck out two Pirates ... struck out three in 1.1 innings vs. Louisiana Tech in his second outing ... picked up the save against Dartmouth, pitching 2.2 innings, scattering three hits, striking out two and allowing no runs ... pitched 3.0 innings of one-run relief vs. Central Michigan ... lasted four innings and allowed three runs in first collegiate start, vs. Akron.

Union H.S.:  A three-year starter and four-year letterman ... was named first-team all-state as a senior ... was also an all-Frontier Valley Conference selection ... team was 28-6 his senior year ... finished senior year with an 8-2 record and a 1.57 ERA in 71 innings pitched ... team was Oklahoma 6A state champs his sophomore and junior years ... played summers for the Midwest Nationals of the Premier League ... lists being the winning pitcher in the 2006 Oklahoma 6A championship game as his greatest sports experience.

Personal:  Drew is the son of Jim and Brenda Rucinski ... has one sister, Allison ... loves the outdoors, like many Buckeyes, especially fishing and hunting.
