2010 Overview: Andrew is a talented pitcher who was drafted out of high school. His status for this season is to be determined as he continues to rehabilitate his left shoulder after surgery this past summer.

2009 (Sophomore): Pitched in 11 games, starting eight ... was 2-3 in 40.2 innings pitched... made two appearances out of the bullpen in the Tallahassee regional ... threw 6.2 shutout innings, tying his career high with five strikeouts in his first start of the season to pick up the win against Connecticut ... was named BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge Honorable Mention for his performance against Connecticut ... tossed his first career complete game, striking out five at Rollins ... lasted at least 5.0 innings in four of his first five starts before suffering an arm injury that limited him the rest of the season ... gave up two runs while earning second win of the season against Akron.

2008 (Freshman): Was 4-3 with a 4.42 ERA ... posted team's third-lowest ERA among starters ... opened the season with a win in relief in his first outing (2.0 innings vs. Harvard) ... produced solid efforts in his first four starts, lasting at least 5.0 innings in each of those starts, allowing just four earned runs through his first 23.1 innings pitched as a starter and posting a sweet 2.70 earned run average ... went 6.1 innings in his first start, vs. St. Louis, struck out five, allowed just two earned runs and left with the game tied, but took the loss ... pitched 5.0 innings in his next two outings and picked up wins over Pittsburgh and Toledo ... struck out nine in those two games and walked just three batters ... pitched 5.0 innings and allowed just two earned runs in first Big Ten start vs. Minnesota, but Buckeyes were shut out ... pitched in relief in four of his final appearances of 2008 with starts against Louisville, Northwestern and Marshall ... picked up fourth win of the season vs. the Thundering Herd by scattering three hits through four innings and allowing just one run ... pitched well for Luray of the Valley Baseball League this summer.

Turner Ashby H.S.: Drafted in the 45th round of the 2007 MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves ... a first-team Virginia all-state selection as a senior and the Class AA player of the year ... team won back-to-back Virginia state baseball championships ... helped lead Turner Ashby to a 26-1 record and the 2007 state championship with a 10-0 record, a 1.20 ERA and batting .460 ... chosen all-Valley District and all-region ... team finished 26-1 and won the Class AA state tournament in 2006 as well as Armstrong went 12-0 with an 0.78 ERA and 84 strikeouts in 71 innings as a junior ... finished career 28-0 in three seasons as a starter ... lettered three years in basketball and football as well, and was named first-team all-Valley District in basketball ... played summer 2007 ball for D-BAT of the AABC league in Dallas, Texas.

Personal: Andrew, known as "Major" around the ball park, is the son of Marvin Armstrong and Martha Bocock ... has one brother, Nathanial ... played high school baseball with Ohio State student assistant coach Justin Miller ... enjoys hunting, fishing and farming ... he also is fond of his hunting dogs, Creedence Clearwater Revival and just taking life easy.
