Looking at 2008: The plan and the hope is that Dan DeLucia, called “a tremendous leader” by head coach Bob Todd, will be on the mound sometime this spring ... DeLucia said in December ’07 that his recovery and rehab since his April 10 Tommy John surgery has “gone very well” and that he expects to be throwing in games this spring ...”If anyone can return from this injury and pitch well, it’s Dan DeLucia,” said Todd ... DeLucia was voted a team captain by his teammates, thus giving him the honor of being the only three-time captain in 125 years of Ohio State baseball history ... the fifth-year senior has posted a 21-10 record with a 3.76 ERA in 47 games during his career at Ohio State  ...  is 3-0 with a 2.47 ERA and 37.1 innings pitched in five post-season appearances ... he is tied for 15th at Ohio State in wins  ... his career ERA ranks 11th all-time and his 265.2 innings pitched rank 10th ... a four-time OSU Scholar-Athlete and a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.

2007 (Senior/Redshirt):  The opening-day starter on the mound for the Buckeyes and a team captain for the second time in his career ... picked up victories in his first two outings before a left elbow injury in his third appearance ended his season ... posted a 3.18 earned run average with 15 strikeouts and just two walks in his three appearances ... earned career win No. 20 by pitching 6.0 innings in win over James Madison ... followed JMU win with 8.0 innings worked in win over Georgetown ... pitched 3.0 innings against Bucknell March 17 ... had Tommy John surgery April 10 ... maintained a captain’s presence in the lockerroom and dugout throughout the season even though he was injured ... named an OSU Scholar-Athlete.

2006 (Junior):  First Team All-Big Ten selection ... team captain ... made 14 starts and 15 appearances ... finished 10-2 overall and 7-1 in the Big Ten ... first 10-game winner at Ohio State since 1999 and the 15th Buckeye to win at least 10 games in a season  ... led the Big Ten in wins and innings pitched (108.0) ... 3.25 ERA was ninth in the Big Ten ... pitched his fourth career complete game while allowing only three hits in a 14-0 shutout of Massachusetts  ... named to the CBF Weekly Honor Roll March 21 for his effort against UMass ... pitched his fifth career complete game in the series opener vs. Illinois and tied a career high with nine strikeouts ... became a 10-game winner when he beat Penn State in the opening game of the series ... allowed only one run on seven hits in a career-long 10 innings vs. Purdue in the Big Ten tournament, but left the game with the score tied 1-1 before Ohio State won 2-1 in the 12th ... named Academic All-Big Ten and an OSU Scholar-Athlete ... played summer baseball with Ohio State teammate Matt Angle with the Cotuit Kettleers in the Cape Cod League ... was 2-3 with a 3.55 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 38.0 innings.

2005 (Sophomore):  Started 15 games and finished with a 6-5 record and 2.92 ERA, the best of the starting rotation ... became the Friday night starter in the last six conference series ... was 3-4 in eight Big Ten starts with a pair of complete games and a 3.88 ERA ... named a third-team All-Big Ten selection ... retired the first 14 Boilermaker batters he faced in game four of the Purdue series ... pitched the first complete game of his career in game one vs. Penn State and allowed only one earned run in an 11-2 Buckeye victory ... pitched his second straight complete game in beating Northwestern 7-2 in the opening game of that series ... started game one of the Big Ten tournament vs. Michigan and allowed only one run on eight hits before leaving in the eighth with a one-run lead ... Buckeyes won 7-3 in 13 innings ... pitched Ohio State to a title game win over Minnesota and earned a spot on the  all-tournament team ... pitched complete game in the 2-1 victory over Virginia at the NCAA Corvallis Regional ... ranked among the Top 10 in the Big Ten in five different categories: games started; innings pitched; ERA; and opposing batting average ... named Academic All-Big Ten and an OSU Scholar-Athlete ... played summer of 2005 with the Delaware Cows of the Great Lakes League.

2004 (Freshman):  Made nine starts - four in Big Ten action - in 14 appearances ... finished with an overall record of 3-3 with one save in 45.0 innings ... pitched three relief innings against Kansas State Feb. 14 in his first action as a collegian ... made his first collegiate start against Eastern Michigan March 31 and pitched four innings ... started game three at Purdue and earned his first win, going four innings of the seven-inning game ... beat Purdue in the Buckeyes’ third game of the Big Ten Tournament by pitching 6.0 innings, in which he allowed four runs on seven hits and struck out three ... OSU Scholar-Athlete.

Bishop Watterson High School:  First team all-district and all-league selection ... team MVP ... was 16-1 as a starting pitcher for his high school career with a 1.08 ERA ... had 162 strikeouts and three no-hitters, one his senior year ... as a senior he was 7-1 with a 1.60 ERA and 76 strikeouts ... two-year starter and letterwinner for coach Scott Manahan ... also played football and basketball ... made a three-pointer with three seconds remaining to win the district championship game in 2002 ... quarterback of the 2002 Division II state champion football team ... member of the National Honor Society and winner of the Navy Academic, Athletic Scholarship ... played for the Columbus Cobras (NABF) in the summers of 1999-2001 and played for the Ohio Thunder in 2002 ... four-year stats included 28-5 record with a 1.18 ERA, 215 strikeouts in 184 innings.

Personal:  Full name is Daniel Thomas DeLucia ... son of Julie DeLucia ... younger brother, Brian, is a sophomore third baseman on this year’s team.
