44  Tory Haddad
First Base/Third Base
Jr., Bats: R - Throws: R
Valparaiso, Fla., Fort Walton Beach H.S.
High Intensity Travel Team
Biology

Kalafatis on Haddad: “Tory did a great job learning first base last year, which ended up being critical because of Pruner’s injury. Now Tory has the ability to play first, third as well as designated player which gives us tremendous depth. We’re counting on more offensive production from her and I’m pleasantly surprised at how competitive Tory is. We have flexibility with both corner spots, which should really help in the long run.”

At a glance: Worked her way into starting lineup as a sophomore ... Will primarily play first base in 2009, with the possibility of time at third or as designated player ... consistent hitter with the ability to draw the walk ... excellent student.

2008 (Sophomore Season): Started in 55 games ... named team’s Most Improved Player ... totaled 396 putouts and 10 double plays (first on team) ... second on team with four home runs ... hit five doubles and one triple ... scored 13 runs with 56 total hits ... finished with a .979 fielding pct. ... hit first career triple in 6-3 win over Wisconsin April 26 (game 1)... tied career high of three RBI in a win at Purdue April 13 and at Minnesota April 26 ... walked career high four times against Illinois March 30, three times with the bases loaded.

2007 (Freshman Season): Led team with six pinch-hit at bats ... OSU Scholar-Athlete ... had pinch-hit RBI single in 10-1 win over Purdue in Big Ten tournament semifinal May 11 ... started 10 games (seven at third base, two at DP) and played in 18 overall ... started both games at Northwestern April 13-14 ... played in all 4 games in Birmingham March 3-4 and in four of eight games in Clearwater March 8-11.

Prior to Ohio State: A 2006 EA Sports Second-Team All-American ... first-team all-state as a junior and senior ... twice named first-team all-area by the Northwest Florida Daily News ... that publication named her its 2005-06 Athlete of the Year ... named the 2005-06 Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the Northwest Florida All Sports Association ... hit .712 as a senior with a .813 on base percentage, nine home runs, 41 RBI and 31 walks ... struck out only three times in 96 at bats ... FWBHS offensive MVP as a junior and team MVP as a senior ... captain ... led team to first-ever regional final appearance as a sophomore with a walk-off home run in regional semifinal game ... started the first Panhandle All-Star Game in 2006 ... four-year starter in softball and soccer (goalkeeper) ... all-area goalkeeper three years ... president of the National Honor Society ... ranked No. 3 out of 441 in her graduating class.

Personal: Daughter of Richard and Virginia Haddad ... has an older sister, Alexandra (22) ... father played football at the U.S. Air Force Academy ... grandfather, Al Warneke, pitched for the Chicago Cubs and great uncle, Lon Warneke, pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals and is in the Cardinals’ Hall of Fame ... would like to go to medical school and become an orthopedic surgeon ... enjoys waterskiing, wakeboarding and soccer ... greatest sports thrill is hitting four home runs at the ASA U-16 nationals in Bloomington, Ind., when playing for the Mississippi Mystics, including a walk-off homer.
