Buckeye Bits: Veteran who has been an unsung contributor in the Buckeye offense ... a change of pace at tailback to Chris Wells ... has breakaway speed and can turn the corner in the blink of an eye ... gets a great burst up the middle ... has good hands.

2007 (Junior): Gained 367 yards with three rushing touchdowns for the season ... 44 yards with two scores in win over Northwestern ... 52 yards rushing at Minnesota ... 74 yards gained at Purdue ... TD catch against Kent State ... rushed for 55 yards on 17 carries in win at Penn State ... 19-yard TD against Illinois ... third-year letterman.

2006 (Sophomore): Played in all 13 games and was the Buckeyes’ fourth leading rusher ... carried the ball 46 times for 171 yards and one touchdown ... top game was against Indiana when he carried the ball nine times for 62 yards, including a career-long run of 32 yards ... scored lone touchdown against Cincinnati on a 9-yard run in the fourth quarter.

2005 (Freshman): Played in nine of the Buckeyes’ 12 games ... was the Buckeyes’ third leading rusher last year with 199 yards on 61 carries, an average of 3.3 yards per attempt ... had seven carries for 10 yards in the season opener against Miami (Ohio) ... had 13 carries for 70 yards against Northwestern and 50 yards on five carries against Indiana ... longest run of the year was 25 yards.

High School: Considered one of the top running backs in the country ...rushed for career totals of 5,955 yards and 55 touchdowns ... led the state of Florida in rushing as a junior with 3,076 yards and scored 31 touchdowns ... in nine games as a senior, rushed for 1,908 yards and 18 touchdowns ... set the Florida single-game rushing record with 429 yards in two and a half quarters in a blowout of Stanton Prep as a junior ... clocked at 4.44-seconds in the 40-yard dash ... played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Personal: Son of Kingsley and Pamela Simons ... has an older brother, Martin Wells, and a younger brother, Kingsley Simons.

The Ohio State University Department of Athletics sponsors 36 fully funded varsity teams – 17 for women, 16 for men and three co-educational. The department is committed to providing its more than 1,000 student-athletes with the finest in academic and athletics support in order to ensure a quality and life-enhancing experience. The Department of Athletics is completely self-supporting and receives no university monies, tax dollars or student fees. In Fiscal Year 2009-10, the Department of Athletics will transfer back to the University more than $29 million in assessments, including $14.5 million in grant-in-aid costs.
