SERIES NOTES
• Saturday was the second meeting between Ohio State and Kent State. The Buckeyes have won both meetings, including the 51-17 win in 2002 in Columbus.

OFFENSIVE NOTES
• Ohio State has scored on its opening drive in the last three games and five out of seven games this season.
• The Buckeyes completed 20-for-25 (.800) pass attempts Saturday. The Ohio State record is .857 set vs. Washington State in 1952 when the Buckeyes completed 18-of-21 attempts.
• The Buckeyes scored 28 points in the second quarter, marking the second time this season OSU has scored 28 points in a quarter. The other was the first quarter against Northwestern Sept. 22.
• Quarterback Todd Boeckman was a perfect 5-for-5 passing for 67 yards on Ohio State's opening drive, capped off by a 14-yard scoring strike to Brian Hartline. Boeckman completed his first six passes and 11 of his first 12.
He finished the game 13-of-16 (.813) for 184 yards with two touchdowns. Craig Krenzel is the last Buckeye to top 80 percent completion percentage in a game (min. 10 att.) with a 12-14 effort the last time the Buckeyes played Kent State in 2002. He threw for 190 yards in the 51-17 Ohio State win.
• Freshman running back Brandon Saine caught a season-long 35 yard pass from Boeckman on OSU's second drive of the first quarter. Saine finished the game with a career-best five catches for 76 yards. He also led the Buckeyes with 69 yards on nine carries.
• Running back Maurice Wells caught his first career touchdown pass, a 15-yarder from Boeckman with :35 seconds remaining in the second quarter. Wells has five touchdowns in his career, with four via the run.
• A season-best 10 different receivers caught passes for the Buckeyes on Saturday, covering 263 yards. Ohio State has spread the ball to at least eight different receivers in five of seven games this season, including three games with nine different pass catchers.
• Rob Schoenhoft scored on a two-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, the first touchdown of his career. Through the air, Schoenhoft went 7-for-9 for 79 yards.
• The Buckeyes were 5-for-5 on red zone chances Saturday with four TDs and a field goal. The Buckeyes now are 26-for-28 this season in the red zone.
• Brian Robiskie, four catches for 42 yards, has caught a pass in 19-consecutive regular-season games. In Robiskie's last thee games at Ohio Stadium, he has totaled 27 catches for 455 yards.
DEFENSIVE NOTES
• Ohio State has yet to allow an offensive touchdown in four home games this season. Northwestern's kickoff return for a touchdown in the third quarter on Sept. 22 is the only TD allowed by Ohio State at Ohio Stadium this season.
• Ohio State's defense has allowed just two offensive touchdowns over the past 16 quarters of play.
• Ohio State held Kent State to just four conversions on 14 third downs Saturday. For the season, Ohio State opponents are just 33 for 115 (.287).
• The Buckeyes limited the Golden Flashes to just six completions on 15 pass attempts. The six completions is a season low allowed by Ohio State, topping 11 completions by Youngstown State Sept. 1.
• Donald Washington returned his first career interception for a touchdown in the second quarter, covering 70 yards. The last time OSU returned an interception for a score was Brandon Mitchell at Northwestern on Nov. 11, 2006.
Washington also recorded his first career sack Saturday.
• The Ohio State defense has held four of seven opponents without an offensive touchdown. For the season, the Buckeyes have allowed just four offensive TDs.
• 26 Buckeyes recorded at least one tackle Saturday with freshman linebacker Brian Rolle leading the way with seven stops and his first career sack.
SPECIAL TEAMS
• Brian Hartline returned a punt 90 yards for a touchdown on the first play of the second quarter. The 90-yarder is the longest in Ohio State history, breaking the previous mark of 87 set by Robert Demmel against Iowa in 1950.
• Kicker Ryan Pretorius connected on a season-long 49-yard FG in the third quarter. He is 12-for-14 on the season and 5-for-6 from 40-49 yards.
MISCELLANEOUS
• A crowd of 105,051 attended the game Saturday. Ohio State has had 38-consecutive games with crowds of more than 100,000.
• Former Buckeye linebacker Ike Kelley (1963-65) served as honorary captain Saturday.
