Senior tri-captain Dionte Johnson spoke to the media Tuesday about the Buckeyes' win at Washington and the upcoming Big Ten opener against Northwestern.

Fullback Dionte Johnson and defensive tackle Todd Denlinger meet with the media Tuesday after Jim Tressel's weekly press luncheon

Todd Denlinger, sophomore defensive tackle
On the team
“We have played solid. We have to keep improving. Everyone needs to continue to step up and get better everyday.”

On Northwestern
“We have to take them serious. If we write them off or joke about the game then they will come into our house and beat us.”

On the first three games
“We definitely have things we need to work on, but I’ve been satisfied with our progress thus far. Our defensive slogan is “Never Satisfied” and we’ve adopted that and really taken it to heart.”

On Tressel’s show of emotion
“You love to see it. It helps build enthusiasm and momentum in the game. He doesn’t usually show that kind of emotion so it’s good to know your coach is behind you.”

Dionte Johnson, senior fullback
On his role as captain
“Everyone gets excited (about  being 3-0), but my job is to calm everyone down.  We can’t talk about Washington anymore, we need to focus on Northwestern.”

On the play of the offense in the first half of games this season
“Its not that we’re coming out flat, things just aren’t clicking. We have to get rid of the mistakes and penalties. We need to come out strong the rest of the year because people are going to be gunning for us.”

On having more opportunities in the power-I formation
“Any time you’re a fullback and you get in the power-I and have a chance to hit somebody, it’s a blessing.”
