COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State freshman forward Zac Dalpe has been named CCHA Rookie of the Week, the Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced Monday. The Paris, Ontario, native had four points in the Buckeyes’ series split with then-No. 2 ranked Notre Dame last weekend. This is the third player of the week honor for Dalpe this season.

Friday, Dalpe scored a goal that gave the Buckeyes a lead over the Irish with just under three minutes remaining in the eventual 4-3 overtime loss. Sunday he assisted on three second-period goals in a span of 10:12 as Ohio State scored four unanswered in a 4-1 victory over the Irish. It was the first multiple-assist game of his career and he was named the game’s first star.

Dalpe has a team-best 13 goals this season, adding eight assists for 21 points. He is tied for second among the nation’s freshmen in goals and leads the CCHA rookies in goal scoring.

The Buckeyes have picked up 10 league player of the week accolades this season. In addition to Dalpe’s three honors, freshman defenseman Matt Bartkowski has two rookie of the week accolades, Corey Toy has been named defenseman of the week and Dustin Carlson is a two-time goalie of the week.

The No. 16-ranked Buckeyes, 18-9-3 on the year and 11-8-3-3 in the CCHA, travel to East Lansing, Mich., for a two-game series with Michigan State. The teams will meet in Munn Ice Arena at 7:05 p.m. Friday in a game televised live by the Big Ten Network and at 5:05 p.m. Saturday with FSN Detroit broadcasting the game live.
