Hunter Bishop was a free agent invitee to the Montreal Canadiens' Development Camp.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Eight Buckeyes, both draft picks and free agents, attended prospect development camps around the National Hockey League this summer. Check below to catch up with some of the Buckeyes as they prep for the future.

Zac Dalpe, a second-round pick in 2008, was one of 10 prospects who participated in the Carolina Hurricanes’ 2009 Prospect Conditioning Camp July 15-18 in Raleigh, N.C. Designed to test and teach prospects proper conditioning techniques, the camp also taught motivational techniques, media training and proper eating habits. Taylor Stefishen, who was drafted by Nashville in the fifth round of the 2008 draft, was one of 30 prospects who participated in the Predators’ 2009 Development Camp July 7-11 in Nashville. Players had on-ice sessions, fitness testing and a day in the Nashville community. Pictures of Stefishen from the community day can be found by clicking here. John Albert, a sixth-round pick of Atlanta in 2007, and Kyle Reed, a free agent, were two of 33 prospects who participated in the Atlanta Thrashers’ 2009 Prospect Development Camp July 10-15 at the team’s practice facility, the Duluth IceForum. Participants had on-ice sessions, off-ice sessions and media availability times. A feature on Reed rapping is below and visit the Thrashers’ website for other development camp videos.

A 2006 fourth-round pick, Joseph Palmer was one of 53 invitees who participated in the Chicago Blackhawks’ 2009 Prospect Camp July 6-10 in Chicago where on-ice sessions included skills sessions and scrimmages. Video can be found at the Blackhawks' video portal and player statistics from the scrimmages can be found on the Blackhawks’ website.

C.J. Severyn, who was drafted in the seventh round in the 2007 entry draft, was one of 27 prospects who participated in the Calgary Flames’ 2009 Prospects Development Camp July 20-25 at the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary. Camp participants took part in on-ice and off-ice sessions designed to improve conditioning, power skating and knowledge of the Flames organization. Free agent Hunter Bishop was one of 40 prospects invited to the Montreal Canadiens annual development camp July 6-12 at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard, QC. The camp included on-ice sessions, off-ice conditioning and an inter-squad game. Check the Canadiens' website for more information and videos.

Free agent Dustin Carlson participated in the 2009 Washington Capitals Development Camp July 13-18 at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Va. Prospects participate in on-ice and off-ice workouts, as well as multiple scrimmages. Complete coverage can be found at the Capitals' website and video site.


Matt Bartkowski was invited to the Florida Panthers 2009 Development Camp as a seventh-round pick, but could not attend the June 1-7 camp because of final exams at Ohio State.
