Lauren Kramer Barber at 5:19pm June 4 Thank you Coach Tressel and the other coaches that visited the troops. My brother-in-law's unit was one visited by The Vest and crew at Blad Airbase (and had his picture taken). Andrew and his fellow soldiers really enjoyed the visit. We just appreciate so much when others take the time to care about our soldiers' well-being.

It started with a meet and greet here at the Division Headquarters. The first picture (right) I sent is of Brigadier General Murray (Deputy Commander of the 1st Cavalry Division AND 1981 OSU grad), My friend Kyle, Me, and Coach Tressel himself doing O-H-I-O! I can honestly say this was one of the best moments I have had (especially since I have been in Iraq).

June 1 - Ohio native Lauren White is stationed in Germany, where she met Buckeye head coach Jim Tressel during his travels headed to the Middle East last week. Read her email here ...
Jim and about 5 other coaches are on a morale tour visiting troops overseas. The gym was almost all Ohio State fans, it was hilarious. The UCLA coach came in first and started to talk to the OSU "side". Tressel walked in and the whole place just ignored UCLA and started chanting OH-IO.....it was awesome. I got Tressel's book, for free of course, and he signed it, a hat, shirt, and some photos...yea!!!

Ohio State’s Jim Tressel is one of six college football coaches who will visit U.S. service personnel in the Middle East as part of an Armed Forces Entertainment tour during the next week.
The delegation is scheduled to make several stops throughout the Middle East, including Afghanistan and around the Persian Gulf. The tour is organized through the Department of Defense. The coaches will meet for orientation in late May and should be overseas eight days.
Others participating this year include Mack Brown (Texas), Houston Nutt (Ole Miss), Rick Neuheisel (UCLA), Troy Calhoun (Air Force) and Tommy Tuberville, who was a part of the inaugural Coaches’ Tour last year.

Ohio State fans were never hard to find during Coaches Tour 2009, a morale-boosting mission that brought NCAA football coaches to U.S. servicemembers overseas. According to the UCLA Web site, coach Rick Neuheisel called to report that the seven coaches on the trip were sharing one room in one of Saddam Hussein's former palaces -- and sleeping in bunk beds.
More from Iraq: Tressel made a good impression on a private contractor who happens to be a friend of The Daily Oklahoman's Berry Trammel. The friend had nice things to say about all seven coaches, but Tressel seemed to make a particularly good impression:
"Very polite and friendly, has that professor-type appearance on TV and also in person. Very knowledgeable about most subjects but doesn't come across as smarter than you."

NCAA COACHES VISIT TROOPS IN HOSPITAL
MSN via States News Service
June 2, 2009
Henry Bautista wasn't one of the U.S. service members seven NCAA football coaches visited at a U.S. military hospital in Germany Friday.
That's because servicemembers are not the only ones risking their lives in dangerous places like Iraq. That's where Bautista, a field representative for a light armored vehicle contractor, was three days prior when a vehicle mishap almost severed his leg.
That's where Coaches Tour 2009 comes in. It's a morale-boosting mission that brings NCAA coaches to U.S. servicemembers. For men and women serving overseas, the tour doesn't just bring them icons of college football . It brings them a little piece of home.

RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany — Houston Nutt wasn’t the only nut in the crowd.

Mack Brown and Ohio State University’s Jim Tressel drew the longest lines of the day.
