Junior from Voorhees, N.J., to compete in first international meet
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Brandon Wynn, a junior on the Ohio State men's gymnastics team, will participate in his first international competition at the final Artistic Gymnastics World Cup event of 2009 Nov. 13-15 in Stuttgart, Germany.
The World Cup hosted in Stuttgart is the eighth and last event of its type this year and will feature more than 100 artistic gymnasts from around the world.
"This obviously is a great experience for Brandon," Miles Avery, Ohio State men's gymnastics head coach, said. "He trained two weeks ago at the U.S. National Team camp in Colorado Springs and that is always a strain on the body but he has continued to work hard and train well. This is a great opportunity for him to get experience at the international level."
Wynn, a native of Voorhees, N.J., was selected to the 2009-10 U.S. Men's Senior National team in August after scoring an 84.2 in the all-around at the 2009 VISA Championships finals at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
The 2009 All-American had posted an 86.45 in the all-around at the prelims to end the competition with a 170.65 combined total to finish 16th. Wynn's two-day total of 30.3 on rings ranked sixth and his 29.6 total on floor tied for ninth overall at the elite national competition.
