Two-time NCAA champion J Jaggers made a seamless transition from student-athlete to coach in 2009-10 and will continue his role as the volunteer assistant coach this season. With two national titles at 141 pounds (2008 and 2009) serving as proof of his capabilities, Jaggers became a valuable asset to the Buckeyes during the 2009-10 season. Like Rosselli, Jaggers was consistently mentoring former teammate Reece Humphrey, who took over the starting spot at 141 pounds, following Jagger's graduation. Humphrey went on to finish third at the NCAA championships, earning his second All-America laurel. Jaggers concluded his Buckeye career in impressive fashion, becoming just the third wrestler in program history to win two national titles. A three-time All-American and four-time NCAA qualifier, Jaggers was named the Ohio State Male Athlete of the Year in 2009. He also capped his career with a Big Ten Conference Medal of Honor nomination. In all, Jaggers compiled 107 wins during his career. After winning his first national title in 2008, Jaggers was honored by the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission with the Collegiate Athlete of the Year honor.
Excelling in the classroom, Jaggers was a three-time NWCA All-Academic Team member, two-time Academic All-Big Ten and Ohio State Scholar-Athlete recipient. Jaggers earned his bachelor's degree in communication in March.
While working with the Buckeyes, Jaggers also will be training for a roster spot on the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team.
Jaggers and his fiancée Kara reside in Columbus and will be married July 24.
