| 2008 Buckeye Club Reception was held on Saturday, October 11th, prior to the OSU home football game against the Purdue Boilermakers. The Buckeye Club hosted more than 2,500 members and guests at the French Field House. Former football player Maurice Hall served as the event’s emcee, and speakers Chantel Lavender (women’s basketball player), Tommy Rowlands (assistant wrestling coach and former OSU wrestler), Thad Matta (men’s basketball head coach) and Gene Smith (Director of Athletics) were guest speakers at the luncheon. |

Athletic Scholarship Fund Event |

| Jan and Mike Wilcox hosted an event in their home in Toledo on June 18, 2008 where $50,000 was generated to create the Sheila & Gene Smith Athletic Scholarship Fund. Sheila and Gene, who were not aware that the scholarship was being created in their honor, were presented a $50,000 check that evening. It is the hope of the committee that each year an event will be held and the proceeds will be added to the fund. |

| Jan and Mike Wilcox hosted their 2nd annual event in their home in Toledo on June 19, 2009 where a gift in the amount of $52,500 was presented to Sheila & Gene Smith for their Athletic Scholarship Fund. Sheila and Gene were presented with a $50,000 check at last year's event much to their surprise, as they were not aware that the scholarship was being created in their honor. |
