EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) - Kevin Coble scored 26 points and Craig Moore added 23 to lead Northwestern to a 72-69 win over Ohio State on Wednesday night.

John Shurna hit a fallaway 3-pointer with 3.3 seconds left to give the Wildcats the win. The freshman scored 9 points.

Moore hit seven 3-pointers and Coble went 10-of-14 for the Wildcats (14-10, 5-8 Big Ten), who took control of the game with an 18-3 run early in the second half. Northwestern had lost 11 in a row to Ohio State going back to 1998.

The Buckeyes (17-7, 7-6) lost their second straight, falling into a three-way tie for fifth place in the conference.

Jon Diebler scored 28 points and hit eight 3-pointers to lead Ohio State, which squandered a 37-28 halftime lead. Evan Turner had 14 points for the Buckeyes and B.J. Mullens added 11.

Moore's final 3-pointer gave the Wildcats a 69-64 lead with just under 2 minutes to play, but Ohio State's William Buford answered with a 3 -- his first points of the game -- to cut the deficit to 69-67 with just under a minute to go.

Diebler stole the ball from Coble outside the 3-point line and raced down court for an easy layup to tie the game with 26 seconds to play.

After a loose ball scramble, Northwestern retained possession and Shurna hit a 3-pointer in front of Northwestern's bench. Diebler couldn't get a final shot off before the final buzzer.

Trailing 40-28 early in the second half, the Wildcats started their run, which took just over eight minutes.

Kyle Rowley converted on a three-point play, Jeremy Nash scored on a layup and Shurna made a scoop shot and hit a free throw. Coble then made an off-balance steal on the sideline and kept possession by throwing the ball of P.J. Hill. Shurna split a pair of free throws to cut Northwestern's deficit to 40-37.

Mullens split a pair of free throws and Kyle Madsen scored on a layup to push Ohio State's lead back to six, but Moore hit a 3-pointer and Coble hit a baseline runner to make it 43-42.

Coble then hit a pair of free throws to give the Wildcats the lead, Nash a layup and Craig Moore a 3-pointer to make it 46-43.

Diebler got the Buckeyes back on track with a pair of 3s, and the two teams traded the lead for a bit until Coble hit a 3-pointer from the corner to put the Wildcats up 63-61 with 3:49 to play. They didn't trail again.
