Sophomore Evan Turner earns his first weekly laurel after leading Ohio State to a pair of victories against ranked opponents to improve OSU’s record to 5-0 and continue the nation’s longest win streak at 10 games. Turner scored a career-high 28 points in the win Saturday vs. No. 7 Notre Dame at the Hall of Fame Showcase in Indianapolis, earning MVP honors. Against No. 21 Miami in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, Turner scored 19 points, all in the second half, to give the Buckeyes a come-from-behind win on the road. Against the Irish, Turner also played all 40 minutes and connected on 11-of- 16 field goal attempts, all career highs. In the last two games, Turner has averaged 23.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists. He has connected on 57 percent of his shots (17-30) and 86 percent of his foul shots (12-14).

Buckeye head coach Thad Matta on Evan Turner being named Big Ten Player of the Week
“I am obviously happy for Evan and for our team. I think that, as an individual of an award as that appears, it is a team thing. Evan had a good week last week – scoring and rebounding. Fortunately he did get some very big plays for our team."
