OSU head coach spoke to media Tuesday after meeting families of Ohio National Guard

Jim Tressel, Ohio State football head coach, met with media briefly Tuesday after speaking to the participating families of "Operation: Military Kids Hero Camp" inside the Woody Hayes Athletics Center.

Tressel spoke to the importance of giving back to those who proudly serve our country and their families. His second topic also involved giving back as he responded to the news yesterday of former Buckeye running back Maurice Clarett reenrolling at Ohio State. Tressel's session finished with some remarks about the pending start of preseason camp next week as the Buckeyes report Aug. 5.

Operation: Military Kids Hero Camp 

The Ohio State University hosted a day-long camp for Ohio's Military Families July 27 called "Operation: Military Kids Hero Camp." The day was sponsored by the OSU Department of Athletics, Ohio State University Extension, its Ohio 4-H program and the Ohio National Guard.

The camp was designed as a fun day for the children to learn about living a healthy, active lifestyle while the parents attended a STRONG Family Workshop session at the university's Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center on Fred Taylor Drive.

Approximately 65 children from ages 5-12 participated in activity sessions on the Buckeye outdoor football practice fields at the Harmon Family Football Park. The children were instructed by Ohio State student-athletes from the soccer, lacrosse and track teams. Groups also enjoyed tours of the Les Wexner Football Complex in the Woody Hayes Athletic Center and Ohio Stadium.
