COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State rifle team improved to 3-2 on the season with a 4,584 to 4,575 win at Akron Saturday. The Buckeyes won both team events, edging the Zips, 2,271 to 2,270 in smallbore and 2,313 to 2,305 in air rifle. OSU's Amanda Furrer posted individual first place finishes in smallbore rifle (582) and the two-gun aggregate (1,165). She was tied for third in air rifle (583) with Robert Mangaudis. OSU's Nick Novello finished second in air rifle (586) and fifth in smallbore rifle (566) to take second in the two-gun aggregate (1,152). Winning the air rifle event for Akron was Jenna Compton with a 587.

The Buckeyes return to action Jan. 16-17 in Port Clinton, Ohio at the Camp Perry 2X Air Rifle Competition.
