Athletes of the Week• Eric Shrigley scored in the 93rd minute to give the men's soccer team a 1-0 win over Indiana on Yeagley Field at Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington, Ind., Nov. 1 in front of 1,338 fans. Shrigley's goal, his second gamewinner this season, gave Ohio State its first victory over Indiana since the 2000 season and only the third in the history of the programs. The Buckeyes previously defeated Indiana during the 1955 season before the Big Ten Tournament win in 2000. The win keeps Ohio State in the hunt for the Big Ten championship with a 3-2-0 mark in the conference.
• Behind a goal and two assists from junior Lauren Steuer, the 15th-ranked women's soccer team, defeated No. 23 Indiana, 6-0, Nov. 1. Steuer, who has started all 18 games for Ohio State, leads the team with 15 points from four goals and seven assists.
The Buckeyes (7-1-1 Big Ten) will have a chance to clinch at least a share of the Big Ten regular season title for the first time in program history when they head to East Lansing to take on Michigan State Nov. 6 at 3 p.m.

• Governor Ted Strickland and representatives from the FBI National Child ID Program, FBI Citizen's Academy and Walmart will be at Ohio State football head coach Jim Tressel's weekly press conference at noon Nov. 3 at the Jack Nicklaus Museum. Before Tressel previews the upcoming game at Penn State, Strickland and guests will hold a news conference to kick off statewide Child ID program in which they will share the importance of child safety, giving people the opportunity to have a means to ID their children, and hand out the first ceremonial Child ID kits to students.

• Big Ten media selected the Buckeyes No. 3 in the annual media preseason poll. Junior Evan Turner, a Chicago native, was among the five players selected to the preseason All-Big Ten squad.
• Ohio State returns all five starters from a season ago along with 11 letterwinners. The preseason polls have the Buckeyes among the Top 20 teams nationally, including a No. 17 ranking in the ESPN/Coaches poll and a No. 16 ranking in the Associated Press preseason poll.
• Ohio State opens the 2009-10 season at 8 p.m. Nov. 4 vs. Walsh University in an exhibition game at Value City Arena.

• Senior Jeff See ran a third-place time of 25:07.3 to lead Ohio State to a second-place finish Nov. 1 at the 2009 Big Ten Cross Country Championships. Ohio State put together its best team effort of the season to take the runner-up spot, the highest finish from a Buckeye squad at the conference meet since 2005.
• See was named the Big Ten runner of the week in recognition of his dominating performance at the EMU Fall Classic Oct. 23. This season, See took second place at the Mountaineer Open (Sept. 18) and first at the All-Ohio Championships (Oct. 2).

• Running against some of the nation's top collegiate athletes, a young Ohio State women's cross country team finished in eighth-place Nov. 1 at the 2009 Big Ten Championships.
• Led by junior Jordan Jennewine, who earned second-team All-Big Ten honors thanks to a 12th-place finish in 21:02, the Buckeyes showed a tremendous amount of improvement from 2008, when the team failed to place a runner in the top 30.

• With Big Ten tournament seeding on the line, Ohio State earned a 2-1 conference victory over No. 20 Northwestern Oct. 31 in Evanston, Ill., to finish the regular season in a two-way tie for second with Indiana with matching 4-2 league ledgers. Freshman Berta Queralt tied the game at 1-all and Maria Briones scored the gamewinner in the first half to lead the Buckeyes vs. the Wildcats.
• Goalkeeper Lindsay Quintiliani was named the Big Ten's Co-Defensive Player of the Week Nov. 2, after posting four second-half saves to ensure Ohio State's victory at Northwestern. She ends the regular season with 40 career wins, the most in OSU history, including 14 shutouts, the second most in program history, behind 214 saves in 66 games.
• By virtue of its win over Indiana this season, Ohio State earned the tiebreaker and will be the No. 2 seed at the conference tournament. The Buckeyes open the conference tournament vs. Penn State, the No. 7 seed, at 1:15 Nov. 5 in East Lansing, Mich.

• Terrelle Pryor rushed for 83 yards and passed for another 135 in just two quarters of action to lead the offensive charge in Ohio State's 45-0 win over New Mexico State. He scored one touchdown and threw for another. DeVier Posey (five receptions for 79 yards plus a 39-yard touchdown pass), Dane Sanzenbacher (four receptions for 72 yards and two touchdowns) and Jordan Hall (career highs with 10 carries for 90 yards) also had big games. The Buckeyes rushed for a season-high 310 yards.
• Defensively, Ohio State limited the Aggies to 62 total yards while recording its third shutout of the season. It is the first time the team has three shutouts in a single campaign since 1996.

• Ohio State student-athletes took the top 4 spots at the All-Ohio Invitational, led by medalist Vicky Villanueva, while playing on their own par 71, 6,039-yard Scarlet Course in Columbus. Totaling 1-over 143 in two rounds, Villanueva led the field by eight strokes.
Men's Hockey (2-5-1, 1-2-1-1 CCHA)

• Ohio State rallied twice to tie No. 11/8 Notre Dame by a score of 2-2 Oct. 31 at the Joyce Center in Notre Dame, Ind. The Buckeyes then won the shootout, 2-1, to take the extra point in the CCHA standings. Hunter Bishop and Zac Dalpe scored for the Scarlet and Gray during the game, while Bishop and John Albert netted shootout goals.
• Ohio State put up a great effort, but fell to Notre Dame by a score of 3-1 Oct. 30 in the first game of a CCHA series. Albert scored the lone Buckeye goal at 13:04 of the first period, while the Fighting Irish sealed the win with an empty netter.

• Behind three assists from Spooner and two-point games from Jenna Kilpatrick, Laura McIntosh and Hokey Langan, as well as 21 saves from goalie Chelsea Knapp, Ohio State downed Minnesota State, 4-1, Oct. 31 in the OSU Ice Rink. It was the first sweep of the season for the Buckeyes.
